I didn't realize until I looked at the calendar this morning that YESTERDAY was the 3 year anniversary of my mom's death. I don't think it even entered my mind last Tuesday that 9/4 was 3 years from the stroke that brought on her death 5 days later.

Time does heal.

Hope your 51st is a good one and that you're in good health and heart.

So my family in Shreveport and Bossier wasn't even phased when Katrina plowed through east of New Orleans last month; they're in the far NW corner of Louisiana and got nothing more than strongish breezes from it for a couple of hours. Well, they did get about 30,000 evacuees from that storm...

Then there's Rita, which is projected to park itself over that part of the state when it comes inland, possibly dumping over 20 inches of rain over Shreveport. Yeesh. Shreveport is about 200 miles inland, and rarely gets any Gulf Coast overflow weather; it's more likely to get snow from Canadian cold fronts.

The irony is that my mother flew out from Shreveport on 8/26 to visit her relatives in West Virginia. But she's scheduled to fly back on Tuesday to Shreveport, possibly when the storms are still swirling about there. I've been considering calling her on Saturday morning to see if she wants to try to reschedule her flights for later.

Sigh...
