Saturday morning was a bit draggy from having overimbibed just a TOUCH with the wine on Friday night at the Dave's. The plan of action was to do a bit of house cleaning, then enjoy some needed naps in the afternoon.

Danny headed out to do grocery shopping for the evening's dinner with Lawrence and Scott. So I started in with the house cleaning. Part of the cleaning was prepping for the night's festivities, but also, two of Danny's Brit (female) friends, a mother and daughter are coming in next week for a stay. Our house doesn't get that messy, really, but at 3400 sq feet, it's enough to keep a staff busy with cleaning and projects. And we're the staff.

About 10:35, when I was just about to start vacuuming, the phone rang. It was [livejournal.com profile] krisjensen asking who was driving to the 11am Wilde Bunch class committee meeting. CRAP! I had forgotten of course. I told her to stop by in 10 minutes, and I'd be ready. That included having to shower and dress, but I was actually ready in about 8 minutes.

Seven of us had a good talk about preliminary planning for Wilde Bunch classes for the next 18 months or so, with plans for another get together on 8/2.

Headed back home with Kris (she drove) a little after 1, then carried on with the cleaning and stopped about 2 for a nap. Of COURSE, an unwanted survey call came, and I was a bit brusque. We get 6 to 8 of those a day and I'm SOOOO over it. No matter who it is that's unsolicited, I now say that we don't do unsolicited phone surveys, and please take us off your list.

Danny got back from AGORA about 4:20 and immediate hauled into the food prep project for the evening, as I did some more tidying and a bit more outdoor work, with some relaxation added, since I was still feeling uffish from the prior evening.

Then, of course, it clouded up for more T'storms, dampening the 'sitting on the deck and schmoozing' plans. Oh well. Turns out we didn't get any measurable rain, but somewhere must have. There was an almost ceaseless cacaphony of thunder nearby for nearly an hour.

Lawrence and Scott came over a bit past 6, along with Chico, LK's remaining black toy poodle. Chico is doing quite well for nearly 14, with a lot of puppy-like play still in him.

Danny's snacks and dinner were a total success! The deviled eggs went pretty quickly, and I custom cooked some steaks. Danny had made a nice glazed carrot bake, with steamed asparagus, a great salad with fruit in it, a wonderful 'gravy' of sauteed onion and curry spices for the steaks. Wine was again had, but in severe moderation for me this time around!

Since the cooler was still running, the humidity just kept climbing in the house. Talk about feeling sticky! At least it was relatively cool, but ugh.

After dinner, we played 4 rounds of Mexican Train, each of us winning a round. About 9pm, we called it a night and they headed back.

Both dishwashers were filled to the brim. We have enough leftovers for a few meals, but that's not a bad thing. At 10:15 I crashed and burned, getting a needed full night's sleep.

Was so tired all evening, I forgot to take any pics of our guests!

Definitely the day-off type of day. Not particularly busy and not stressed to get anything done. All in good time!
