The crud
Back at work again. Yesterday was frightfully busy, it being yet another short week.
In spite of having the crud, which
allanh can certainly relate to in all it's manifestations, my outward appearance is likely pretty normal, if haggard. Inside, it's...ugh. Dayquil, nasal spray, tissue and hot tea is at hand at my desk.
I did call the Plus and Advanced last night, since I haven't lost my voice yet, but I did warn them all that I wasn't at top speed. We're through 11 calls in Plus and 12 in A1 so far. The A folks all thought I was very clever in how I approached teaching "Chain Reaction," one of the OMG calls that seems to exist at every program. I'm suspecting the A1/A2 programs MAY drag out over 9 months or so, unless I do some kamekaze workshops here and there; I had promised them we'd have them at least exposed to all the calls before they were unleashed on the world at convention.
The final episode of "Life on Mars" recorded last night...looking forward to see how they actually complete the series. There are so few shows on TV that actually have a real 'wrap-it-all-up' finale...most of them just...end. That's why reading novels is so much more satisfying!
In the midst of doing cost analysis for the 08-09 theatre series. I'm not that impressed with the shows that Tom is booking, but the theatre audience may like them. Touring companies are having more and more difficulty even surviving. I don't know what the Broadway series is looking like yet...I'll probably get that info in a few days. It's going to be a hard year just like 2004 was. It's tricky to actually advertise shows during a presidential election process, and this one is this year is going to suck all the radio/TV air time away for sure. We have to get REALLY creative with putting the word out, just as everyone else has to.
Calling Basic/Mainstream/C1 for Kris next Monday. She's used the A/B/C program for the beginners the past 3 weeks, so I'll have to put it all together for them. There are only a couple of Mainstream Continuation folks, so that'll be catch-as-catch-can...so far over 3 weeks, she's only taught Cloverleaf and Turn Thru as new calls, since they need a lot of work on the basics still.
Might skip the c/w exhibition workshops tonight...need the rest for teaching c/w tomorrow night, plus I need to work on the ASDC books for the AGM this coming Sunday afternoon!
