Even more pests

Several years ago, most of the pinon forests in NM were destroyed by drought and another beetle.
So, we happen to look out in the back yard tonight at the massive cottonwood tree, because we saw a large dead branch with dried leaves that we hadn't seen before. It's not connected to the tree, so we figured that windstorm the other night did it in.
Then we looked more closely at the tree and saw a lot of damage to the leaves...in 17 years living at this house, I've never seen this...another predator: Cottonwood Beetle. Grr...
