Time goes on...

Square dancing on Mondays is still pretty enthusiastic, but many of the newbies have disappeared, or decided to just come 'whenever'...it's VERY different from ten years ago, is all I can say. And although we announced that class was closed after last week, one of our straight dancers dragged a friend in, so had to do a kamekazi teach of the first 20 calls or so, in essentially one long tip.

I know that the club has lost it's gay identity. I don't know how to gain it back easily. I had considered trying to get a new class going at the old Albuquerque Social Club. Since it's a membership private club (with a bar and smoking), they have a pretty large email list, which is good for getting the word out... Still might pursue that at some time, but just have to buck up and deal with the WB board.

We should have a real set of students going thru Crossover in 10 weeks from now (or less), so that's a bonus.

Danny's off to a rare work-related trip mixed with some pleasure starting tomorrow. Back to the Bay Area! This time he'll get to schmooze with his ECR friends without the pressures of convention over their heads, making them crazy(er). :-)

Going to host an old friend in the official "Mike Room" downstairs for a few days while Danny's gone. This Mike is teach art to elementary age students, and is doing a one or two week art camp up in Hummingbird Camp in the Jemez mountains. Lucky him! 10 degrees cooler there!

I probably won't see much of him, since I'll have the c/w lessons on Weds to do, 3 hours of my final Access II class on Thursday, and I'm sure something on Friday. This friend's name is Mike...my OTHER old friend Mike also stays there when he's in town, so that's the OFFICIAL name of the room now. Like the upstairs guestroom is "Mom's room" no matter who stays there.
