Is it Tuesday or Monday?
Nov. 15th, 2005 11:58 amWe had a 90-minute presentation this morning from the HR department (cute BJ, and he's family!) on working up our annual performance review, which had 60 minutes of heated discussion by staff members of what's REALLY wanted. Actually, it's pretty clear as self-evaluations go, and Tom is fair in how he re-evaluates. BJ brought up that the University has two lawsuits in progress for people that were terminated for poor performance, although their evaluations noted that they had years of excellent and outstanding...turns out that their supervisors put that in to appease the employees in question. I wonder what other dark secrets are hidden with poorly managed performance reviews.
This will be my last one officially under the auspices of Popejoy Hall. I've completed all my goals solidly and moreso. Yahoo!
On that note, I made the announcement during the regular staff meeting later that on Jan 3, I'd be moving my office to the Bookstore across the loop road, but would still be officially employed by Popejoy. The announcement was taken without any hysterics, since I made it clear that I'd be as accessible over there as I am here in my former coat closet in the theater. AND I'll have a window! I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and working with the other 8 auxiliaries on their accounting systems.
Healthwise, I've noticed that since I've somewhat modified my diet, I do feel better and am sleeping better. Unfortunately, I haven't upped my exercise like I want, but I am eating a consistent breakfast every morning (OJ with metamucil, and a bowl of oatmeal), and having fruit and yogurt or Slimfast for lunch every workday. Sweets are being much less craved...no chocoholic attacks lately. And I don't miss drinking coffee at all, with the only caffeine is the occassional glass of iced tea or a bon bon at square dancing. I'm at 201 right now, which is 7 down from my high of 208 after we got back from the cruise in September. Goal weight: 185.
