Except for the men's downstairs restrooms flooding, apparently the Symphony Messiah concerts on Friday and Saturday went well. Those were the last two event in the theatre until January 4. Just waiting on the ticketing settlement to come over to finish up this last bit. Happy that we're off from 12/23-1/2!

This is my clean-up-my-old-cubicle-area week, since there's not much going on and the University is effectively shutting down, since classes are over for those student-type people. A lot of my multiple paper compost files have already been tossed, and I'll be rousting up a couple of small pieces of furniture to haul over to the Bookstore conference room, where my new 'office' is to be. This time, instead of sharing an office with a close co-worker in what used to be the theatre coat room when it was built in 1966, I'll be sharing an large open conference room with two other people...lots and lots of windows that overlook the theatre!

My coup this past week was getting the debt repayment agreement from my OLD theatre company I worked for signed off, and a good-faith payment of $5k received from debt they owe Popejoy Hall. Since I left MTS (www.musicaltheatresw.com) in 2001 due to my knowing how bad financially they were doing, it's been odd having to work with them on getting BACK into Popejoy Hall, which could only be done if they paid off the $30k debt from two shows in 2001 and 2002 that didn't make enough money to pay off venue rental here. Happily, MTS was able to sell the Hiland Theatre we bought in 1996, which was 100% of the cause of the financial chaos. The County purchased the 1950 theatre we had, and is going to rehab it further into a multi-performance venue, something we could never do effectively when I was there. MTS is now back to the scenario it had in the first 7 years I worked there...costumes, sets, and admin are in a warehouse type environment, and all shows will be performed in rented theatres. They've cut their overhead by 80% by going back to this.

The new Development Director fresh from Santa Rosa starts today. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
