The 10:30 to 1:30 dance on this final day was a fun one. The first hour I called Mainstream with John Marshall, the 2nd hour Plus with Anne U, and the 3rd hour Mainstream and Plus with both of them. The dancers still had energy to spare, even after dancing on carpet all weekend. Except for a couple of odd choreo boggles, we all worked well together, considering we didn't have anything in particular planned.

I did get to say goodbye to Anne before my host Ken Cooper and his partner Mitch whisked me back to Philadelphia, but not to John. I'll leave him an email when I get home.

Ken and Mitch were pleasantly chatty on the 2 1/2 hour trip back, with some detours to do car sightseeing of some of the famous spots of old Philly. But by the time we got to their place in downtown Philly, I was so beat I begged off socializing and napped for an hour.

Groggy from that, we headed out for a walk around the area, and I was delighted to get to see some of the old areas, like Independence Hall, the famous square downtown (forgotten the name!), The Cooper Conservatory of Music, and other places I've heard about all my life. We headed to their favorite Italian restaurant downtown, then made the trek back to their place. Mitch owns an interesting 3 level house that was gutted in the 70s and remodelled. It's still totally 70s, and filled with THOUSANDS of CDs and LPs, Mitch's obsession. Ken and I kept a conversation going until I finally faded for good by 10:30 and begged off to go to bed. Didn't sleep much, since I was afraid I'd miss the 5:30 alarm to get up, so I'm sitting at 40,000 feet on the flight to Houston feeling only 1/2 awake and wondering if I'll be able to go in to work this afternoon AND call a 3 1/2 hour dance tonight.

Lots of pleasant memories from the trip...it just never feels like work, and I almost feel guilty for these fully paid mini-vacations!

And now, safely back home, I desperately need a powernap before calling tonight!

Somehow the 4:20 to 4:50 nap worked. I called from 5:50 to 9:25 tonight with barely a break and made it through without an energy flag. We had four squares dancing all the all-skates, and always at least two for the other programs. We almost had three squares for C1, since some of the long-time lapsed C1 dancers are coming out of the woodwork.

Danny on the other hand is in VERY bad shape with something very flu-like. Combined with his massive headaches...he's a mess. And I don't know what to do about it.
