Conquering a simple project
Apr. 23rd, 2006 12:26 pmLast night I unrolled about 250 feet of the 500 feet of tubing for the drip system. in anticipation of working on it on Sunday.
After using my super blow/suck yard vac to clear out some of the areas where last year's leaves had nestled, and cleaning up the more recent pine needles and elm seed droppings from the front, I finally tackled the drip system again. I succeeded in placing it all where it needed to be, popped in a few dozen emitters, cranked it up and WHEEEEEE!
This project has been too long coming...I should have done this years ago.
I figured out that the little figure 8 type thingies were to bend the end of the pipe and keep it crimped, THEN you put an end cap on it. No worries about the end caps popping off anymore. I HAVEN'T figured out how to get the extension microtubing to stay on the emitters, so I haven't run any of the extensions to a couple of out of the way plants.
After burying about 50 feet of the pipe where it's most visible, I decided to call it a day at noon. Now I have to go buy more plants for a couple of areas of much needed infill, and (some other day) run about 150 feet more to another faucet...not a priority.
