We go home about 3pm today with NO problems at all with the flight back. Although the boarding pass just showed Cleveland to Albuquerque, it actually stopped in Chicago and St Louis on the way back, making for a LONG (but mercifully uneventful) flight.

We had adventures of the non-square dance type on our final day there, but I'll have to save that for a later post. Time for a nap before calling Plus/Advanced for the Wilde Bunch tonight!

Jack Murray passed away recently...I just heard that tonight from [profile] krisjensen.  Sad news.  Jack was the first caller I danced to outside of the Wilde Bunch in the early 80s...he was more or less a mentor as I started my calling career in 1984, always asking me to call guest tips with him during the evening.  I was surprised to find (from his obit) that he was MUCH younger than I though when I was dancing to him.

He was so excited when he did a vanity press recording of "Seven Spanish Angels" about 1985.  I should check if it's still available.  His son Dennis (who I'm not sure I ever met) carries on calling for the Desert Swingers, where he called for many years after leaving Duke City Singles about 1989.

Not long ago, I was going through his very dense Plus choreo book he had written and given to me.  It was all 100% typed...no computers in his life back then!  Lots of it was really undanceable, but since he was writing it while pushing around checkers, a certain amount of error could be expected.

Happy dancing, Jack.
