Slept in as much as possible, having had maybe one glass of wine too many last night.  Ack.

Headed over to the Wilde Bunch board meeting at 9am.  Major points were the acceptance of the new program for dancing, effective October 13.  Plus is moving to Mondays to merge into Basic and Mainstream; C1 is moving to Tuesdays to merge into Advanced.  Yay!  The board heartily accepted that we're hosting the 2009 "West Coast" A&C next year.  All the callers are booked and the hotel is NEARLY decided.  Good thing that hosting an A&C is even less effort than the normal flyin, at least after the preliminary arrangements are put together.

After a quick stop at Home Depot to see if I could find humidier filters (I couldn't), I picked Danny up for the 2:15 showing of "Hamlet 2" at the Century 14 downtown.  It really was a fun movie, but most everyone from either Albuquerque or Tucson would realize that the movie was shot here and not Tucson!  The scenes the the NM Gay Men's Chorus performs in are actually longer than I though they would be and the music was somewhat pivotal for the scenes!  There were only 9 of us in the theatre, so I didn't have throngs requesting my autograph as we left the theatre. Oh, well.

A quick disco nap leaves me a little more refreshed for the chorus kickoff party in 30 minutes.  Danny's out shopping for office supplies at the moment, and has spent most of the day sifting through what seems like a warehouse full of old computer supplies, purging things he doesn't need anymore.  The downstairs office is really quite comfortable; glad we made the change!

Danny may or may not go to the AGORA bowling social at 6.  I have a feeling he won't, since he's gotten another webdesign project to tag onto another site he built for some friends (coincidentally, in the chorus).

I'll probably leave the chorus party about sunset and take a quick dip in the pool, one of the last times we'll be able to do that this year.  It's 88 and dry right now.  Delightful!

It's a whole new ballgame with the chorus now.  And it's not a bad thing at this point.

There were probably 30 people at the chorus kickoff party tonight, and VERY few of the old guard, except for me and Alan Stringer (the founder of the chorus in '81).  I met a LOT of new, interesting people tonight.  There was a lot of food set out in Stanley and Thom's house.  It's not really a house for entertaining, since it's one of the 1940s mini-houses that were built right around WWII.  But it was festive.

Stanley hails from DC, as does his partner.  They moved here a few years ago, setting up roots pretty quickly.  Stanley works for Senator Jeff Binganham (sp?) and his partner Thom works for the growing Aurora Publishing, who does postcards for the theatre I work for.  Small world all over.  They came to C/W lessons for a while, but as many did and do, just faded away.  Now Stanley is on the board of the chorus.  Interesting!

There seem to be an influx of people that are now getting involved with the chorus that were in DC.  I met a guy who sang this past term that's been commuting between DC and ABQ and now lives here.  His partner Rusty Smith is moving here from DC.  They were both very active with the DC chorus and knew Steve Crutchfield there.

Lots of new faces and new life.  I'm pleased.  I have no doubt there will be at least 30 singers in the chorus this year, and maybe even 40, as Matthew things.  I like the way this is going, as long as the MUSIC and THEME and DIRECTION are there.

Got lots of Hamlet 2 swag there, too, that Matthew had hauled over!  2 tshirts, a movie poster (totally unrelated to the movie...don't know WHERE that came from, except it has Hamlet 2 on it), and some other unexplored bits and pieces.

On other new, we just got an email on the Wilde Bunch listserv, that the board secretary Carlos suddenly decided to resign.  He didn't give a clue about that during the meeting today, and there was nothing going on that would indicate why he's resigning.  Of course, I don't think he's danced with us in months, but who knows.
