cookbooks!
Sep. 26th, 2008 11:22 amThe mother of one of our employees here is now too aged and infirm to cook any longer. Judi (employee) cooks for her now totally, making things her mom can just heat up or microwave quickly. She brought in 5 large boxes of cookbooks from the 1970s through the 1990s yesterday for others to have for free. There must have been 300 cookbooks!
I scored by snagging six books that caught my interest:
- "20-Minute Meals" by Marian Burros
- "Frugal Gourmet's Culinary Handbook" by Jeff Smith
- "Frugal Gourmet Cooks American" by Jeff Smith
- "Great Recipes for Good Health" Reader's Digest
- "1001 Oriental Recipes" (is this no longer PC?)
- "Dumpling Cookbook" by Plushkin
Judi's father is actually the one who bought most of these hundreds of cookbooks for her mom, thinking that she was bored!
I only use a couple of books at home, but these will be a nice addition to the library. Maybe I'll make another run to the Green Room to see if there's anything else left. People were snagging a dozen or more at a time yesterday.
