Today is going to be a VERY busy day, and at 7:35am it's just about ready to start. I'll be doing a quick-scan of my C2 material before we head out at 9am for the three back to back dances I'm calling. All over at 5:15pm.

Yesterday morning was very leisurely. JW and I got it together enough to head out to brunch at "Martin's on Madison," a gay piano cabaret restaurant. I felt a great need for carbs, so had a plate of very nicely done biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns, both smeared in butter. I knew the B&G was excellent by the amount of sausage in the gravy, and the gravy was much tastier than many places I have had it in the past. JW had a fancy omelette with a Mimosa, so he was ready for the day.

We took a drive around downtown, and even passed the "Sixth Avenue Hotel" where [livejournal.com profile] abqdan and I stayed on our first official traveling together in June 2001. I had just told JW about the misadventures of the hotel, as well as the near-disaster of a calling trip that caused me to almost never want to come to Seattle again.

Earlier, I had gone outside his apartment to snap some pics of the freeway outside his door, as well as the very busy Golden Orb spider spinning away. (Click). No that wasn't the camera shutter--it was front door locking behind me. Luckily, I was fully dressed and JW wasn't too long in the bathroom, so I only waited about 10 minutes outside.

We've spent a GREAT deal of time on I-5. Even on an early Saturday afternoon, the traffic was bumper to bumper around UofW and downtown, unexplicably. I think the trips out to the dance hall have taken about 40 minutes, so the ride itself is tiring. JW's been a trooper though.

The first A2 dance went really well, with a combo of workshop tips and full dancing. The floor level here is very high, so I was having to stretch myself quite a bit when I was sight calling. The folks here are very friendly and personable. There was even one gay dancer there named Kathy that I've known for many years.

Between dances, 9 of us headed over to Marie Callendar's for a tasty meal (tuna melt for me) and a fun yak.

The evening dance started off with pre-pre rounds at 6:40 (unofficial) and pre-rounds at 7 (official) and I started in at 7:30, again sharing the program with Lynn P. Four squares this time. Since the hall could only hold six squares comfortably, it felt good. Again, mostly strong dancers, so I tried to keep them flowing. At 9:55, I ended a tip, thinking we were going on to 10:30 again, but oops--nope, 10pm! I finished off with a hastily improvised singing call which was NOT my finest work.

Another 40 minute drive back to JW's, a tired chat, and off to bed for another full night's sleep.

So far this morning, I've checked in on SW for my 7:20am flight in the morning. Our contractor also just called me to set up a meeting with the electrician, but I had to defer him to Danny.

Off to shower and prep.
