Productive Saturday

billeylerWe wake up at the crack o' dawn everyday, even if my body tells me, get back to fckin' sleep, moron!
So today, my intention was to start raking and mulching the 30 or so (potential) bags of fallen leaves in the back yard...not to be.
We ended up prepping two of the west walls of the rec room/dance room. Finally, since we've had wood and drywall stacking in there for six months. Moved all the tools and furniture away from the walls. Ripped down the old molding I had nailed up to the cinder block walls in 1994 after I had removed walls, had a new 20' I beam put in (no easy task, but I paid to have THAT done), and tore down all the 1960s wood paneling. Water sealed a couple of moisture damaged areas. We put up the plastic water barrier, and most of the furring strips. Danny put in a good bit of the grounding wire for the electrical, and decided tomorrow he'd tackle putting new live power in a dead socket. Hopefully, after vacation next week, we'll get the drywall up on those two walls.
It's a nearly 700 square foot room, so we've opted to tackle this by zones so it won't be overwhelming. We discussed some of the options for new lighting, since it's got the original various lighting from the three rooms it was originally built as.
Put up kind of a time capsule...I wrote in permanant ink on one of the walls the history of converting the three rooms into a dance hall/rec room. Danny included a picture of us from a couple of months ago. If someone tears down the drywall we're about to install in say 100 years, there we'll be!
We're excited about this phase of the remodel!
Ah, and I had to run to work twice, since Thoroughly Modern Millie is on tour at the theatre this weekend, and I have to do the box office settlements with the company manager.
