Progress or not: Part II

About 11:20 this morning, Danny called me. He had taken the morning to work at home since some major work was going to happen in the morning. The GC told him a bit before he was about to leave for the day that the plumbers had finished the tub install, tested it and isn't leaking.

Wisely, Danny went upstairs to check.

The guys who installed the tub broke it on one corner, so there's a crack running a foot or so through the tub skirt. There's also some damage inside it, but we can't tell how much. They must have really tried to force the tub in; since it's fiberglass and admittedly not the most expensive model ever made, it just didn't like being shoved.

We both knew it wasn't damaged when it was delivered, or in the several weeks it's been sitting in the former bedroom. It may have been damaged when the contractor and his helper moved it into the bathroom yesterday in prep of it being installed. We just know we didn't do it.

Danny made some calls to find out if the tub can be fixed, only to find that it certainly can't be patched without looking even more damaged. We talked about what to do, and the GC was called a couple of times. The GC was annoyed of course.

The end result is that Danny ran down to Lowe's to order another tub. Amazingly, they had one in stock. The contractor is picking it up tomorrow, and the plumbers have now bought a new (but cracked) tub for their own use.

I hope the rest of the installs don't go like this. Our nerves (especially Danny's) won't be able to take it.

Tomorrow we're taking shifts to be at home to supervise the drywalling. I have a management class in the morning and I'll 'work from home' in the afternoon, missing another staff meeting.

I haven't even mentioned all the mini a-fib episodes I've been having this week, one or two a night lasting just a few minutes. Must be some response to taking the Cartia daily now. Danny thinks they'll disappear after this is all over. I hope so.

(Only a sample picture of the tub we will eventually have installed)

A 'soak tub' is the 21st century term for a tub with a spigot and a drain, no fancy stuff! :-)
