Spring carries on

For the second morning in a row (that I'm aware of) we had really strong predawn winds. Not good for sleep (motion detector lights keep coming on). Somehow the spring garden perseveres.



Definite casualties of the subzero freezes in February: the oleander and the Texas sage in the back gardens and one of the cotoneasters in the front area. Sad, but that's life. I can plant other things in those areas.

From the indoor seedlings, none of the tomatoes or leeks made it. Also sad. Some of the squash and zucchini seems to be making a go of it though.

Flowers like the peonies and irises are in fast fading mode, and because of the strong winds, the rose blooms don't last very long, sadly. Fortunately, other flowers have come in to take their place.

You still have a lot of color in your gardens! We're still in the tulips and pansies stage.

Thanks. I've been working toward having a 9 month garden where something is blooming from late February into November, but I don't really have the greenest thumb around. :-)
