Tonight I actually DIDN'T do something I intended to. I had fully intended to go to a local library for a book signing/book talk. Pari Noskin (Taichert) has a mystery novel out, and I was geared to visit with her after having lost touch about 10 years ago.

Pari was a tenant of ours on Cornell from about '88 to '94, one we made great friends with, living next door. She helped make our triplex feel a bit like Barbary Lane. I still think of her pulling up in her clunky little red Chevette every night, and sometimes wandering over for a glass of wine and a yak with Jim and me.

It's really special to follow her successes as a published author. I was sad to find out that "Crosswinds," a local arts, entertainment, and political newspaper recently went belly-up. Pari had a fun, but thoughtful, column in it for years.

There's a double irony about finding out about tonight's book-talk. First, I came across her old rental agreement in the files I got rid of last week, and thought about her then. Yesterday, I turned over a scrap piece of paper at work to tape a receipt to and saw her as a featured writer at the Wyoming St Library for TONIGHT.

But after a hasty dinner at Mannie's with Danny, I was feeling way tired, and decided I'd give her talk a skip. I'll write her a letter tomorrow. By hand.
