It's not ALL bad news

Lynn McCasland was able to stop by for a visit yesterday. We timed the visit so his friends could just drop him off and I'd take him to the airport when he was ready. So, appearances were SOMEWHAT deceiving about Lynn. He had lost 138 pounds, that's true, but it's because he had his stomach 'banded' almost two years ago. Seems he had been having significant issues with diabetes because of his weight. The diabetes issues are gone now.

Anyway, he looked much better than Monday after a week of rest. He's still in school in Tampa to get a psychiatry degree, and was in Albuquerque to check out some leads for moving back here after he graduates in two years. He's very upbeat about it all!

Slap me for jumping to conclusions. I hate being such an alarmist.



My 83 year old mother, in semi-frail health, flew from Louisiana to West Virginia on Friday for a one-month visit. Since I arranged the flight for her, I was concerned about her stamina, since there were 3 plane changes to get there, and potential issues with getting wheelchairs between all the flights. By bedtime last night I hadn't heard from her (or my brother back in Louisiana) to let me know she got there alright.

So I open email this morning, and there's an email from my 2nd cousin's husband saying that she got there alright. Turns out her brother Squeak drove them directly up to the mountain cabin where they summer, and there's no phone there. My 2nd cousin drove up for the weekend, and SHE has a cell phone and called her husband to relay the message. Ah, technology.




Finished the primer coat on the underside of the deck last night before we had dinner and wandered down to the Vortex to see Terrence McNally's "Bad Habits"

Ah, the sun is just about to peek over the Sandias. Time for coffee!
