billeylerToday we've been tackling drywalling the rec room. Since this is also my dance hall and one of our entertaining areas, I've been whining about doing this for months. The room has been unusable since that's the staging area for ALL the construction projects.
The East wall was a bear, with two large windows with marble sill, the exterior door, three electrical boxes, and the dog door to deal with. Very fussy cuts. The south wall will be MUCH simpler, since there are only two electrical boxes. Danny's put the new wiring in for all those, including wiring for the speaker system.
MAYBE we'll hit the Ranch tonight for dancing, unless we fall asleep at 10. I think it got up to 52 today, and felt GREAT after that arctic blast.
[side note. We finished putting up the drywall at 9pm. The South wall took three hours, since we found we had mismeasured several of the furring strips. This after the requisite trips to Home Depot and Walmart for supplies we didn't have. I think Sunday is a 'free' day, then we'll start to do the mudding, taping, sanding and texturizing next week. Only two more walls on the west side of the room after that!
We ended up reading and watching TV for a bit and just went to bed like the middle-aged guys we are]
