How to frustrate myself in one easy lesson
Sunday was my day for installing this spiffy new drip irrigation system. Oh, boy! An easy project!
Well, it wasn't as easy as I THOUGHT it was going to be, in spite of the recommendations from the handsome Home Depot guy on Saturday.
Needless, to say, I'm NOT finished with this project, have to go buy lots more stuff, PLUS figure out how to get the water pressure low enough to keep the end caps from popping off. Luckily, there are cut-off valves on the spigots, so I'm adjusting those to nearly as low as they'll go.
Typical home improvement project...four times as long to do as I think it's going to be. But it was a gorgeous 80 degree day and well worth being outside. (Danny spent some time cleaning house).
I did get one 40' length going with drip emitters, and it looks like it's going to be okay, as long as I can keep the end cap from popping! Along with that, I planted 6 Hall's Honeysuckle and 4 Clematis vines, theoretically foolproof plantings. Oh, and two tomato plants, "Big Boy." Yum.
Another 250 feet to go, and I'm (ha!) done.
But the evening did end up nicely with Kris and Turtle-Bear stopping over in the evening for games night. We played "Apples to Apples" (silly party game, and needs more than 4 people to make it fun), "Taboo" (got some adrenalin going...Danny and I kicked butt!), and the old standby, Rummicubs (T-B won easily, supplanting me as the usual victor). Danny had put out his usual nice spread of finger foods, including strawberries and powdered sugar, mini-egg rolls, and a variety of chips and dips. That made a nice supper, since I barely was out of the shower when K & T-B showed.
Although by 10pm I was at peak of exhaustion (3 glass of wine helped toward that), I stayed up till 12:30 watching the amazingly bizarre "Mulholland Dr."...deserves a re-watch! I missed the first 10 minutes of it.

I get the same way with wine, after even a glass in the evening I'll get reeeeeally sleepy about 90 minutes later.

Home ownership CAN be a time-sucker, that's for sure. I know there are houses that don't need much work, or don't have yards big enough to worry about. But sadly, that's not us.
Ask me ANYTHING about a swamp cooler and I'll be able to tell ya! :-)
