Sweaty, a bit
It's 7:25 and already deep dusk. Very disappointing, since I enjoy working outside in the evening. Minor heat wave today, reaching the high 80s.
Right now, I smell like a combination of man sweat, dust, rosemary, thyme, sage, juniper and various other plants from the garden. I pruned the second of the two arborvitae on the south side of the garage in about 70 minutes. They're both symmetric again! Whew! Pulled a few more recalictrant weeds from the terrace. So much yet to do. Most of the weeds are actually near death for some reason. Maybe just the dryness.
Plucked two more zucchini from the vine, but it was already dark enough out I didn't check for more in the dense growth. The garden, while still lush, is slipping quietly into Fall mode. The cottonwood is already shedding leaves from the dry summer and turning yellow in places. The locust tree looks parched. The apple tree I just ignore had fewer and much smaller apples than usual. Lots of things have gone to seed.
Danny had folded up the swimming pool while I was in Denver and stored it in the garage for the winter.
While pulling the cord to the hedge trimmer around the arborvitae, I managed to snap off one of the solar lights along the walk. Drat.
