Breathe Bill, just breathe...
Jun. 22nd, 2006 09:59 amI was all happy to leave work at 4:30 on Weds to get home and prep for San Antonio. I did want to update my Hexagon paper some, but before I did that, I threw together a nice BBQ dinner for Danny... turned out fairly well, although the grilled veggies weren't on long enough. He'll have to use those another time.
So, sat down to snag some of Vic Ceder's triangle formations from CSDS to insert into my doc. No problem there. Wanted to PRINT my document. Oh, great. The printer is totally out of ink. Found that out a bit earlier when I tried to print some more biz cards for the trip. Tried to connect to the internet to research something. No go. The net was down, and after 20 minutes on the phone, Danny finally got Comcast to noodle with something so we were up again. For a while. Then down again.
After that call, Danny ran off to go get printer ink. I finished modifying my Hexagon paper, and ended up saving it on our server.
Rushed off to print 40 copies...that done, concentrated on packing, selectiong some vinyl for "just in case" and retrieved my mp3 player and the backup CD for more "just in case". Bedded down at 10.
So at 3:45 I was wide awake. Sigh. My flight was at 7.
We got to the airport in plenty of time, of course, so I sat down to check my schedule, and the first thing I saw was that I somehow was scheduled for a 9am FULL HOUR OF FUN MAINSTREAM this morning. WTF????? My flight wasn't even scheduled to land until 9:25!
I had booked my flight for Thursday morning, so I'd have a leisurely morning and afternoon in S.A....my first 'regular' 10 minute tip wasn't until 6:30 in the evening. WTF????
In a dead panic, I called Danny at his office, and mercifully, he picked up. But just moments after I gave him the cell phone # for the caller coordinator, the line went dead. I called back on another phone and voice mail picked up, so I gave him an ADDITIONAL number to call. Then just as my flight was boarding, I tried again, and his voice mail picked up so I just prayed he could get through.
Gawd.
In any case, I'm online at the hotel (dialup) which is 2 blocks from the convention center. Danny called the S.A organizers, and apparently it's all 'cool.' I'm about to head over now to register and sign in at the caller's station.
And maybe call Andy's 3pm C1 if HE doesn't show!
