There are a few bits of color here and there. The trees are just starting to turn yellow in earnest, but aren't really dropping leaves yet. The Virginia Creeper is all going purple for it's one or two days of fall color. The roses are still blooming. Tonight is a fair chance again for a first freeze.

Danny did indeed work all day. The dumpster arrived, and our neighbor graciously allowed us to put it on her large driveway. Danny pulled up the carpeting, got rid of nearly all the old trim, and lots of other chores. When I got home from work at 4:40, I pulled all our bedroom closets apart to the drywall, removed all that trim and tackstrips. Danny covered our bed and furniture with plastic sheeting, so we can start removing lots of drywall now. I'm sure he'll do as much demolishing of the kitchen cabinets tomorrow as possible. That white tile on the countertops is seriously intact and will be hard to remove.

First night sleeping downstairs and showering downstairs in the morning!

It's called a sledgehammer. If our contractor could remove the two layers of tile flooring and 1 1/2 inch of concrete under it with one it should do a number on wimpy countertop. Just be sure to use full-body, and damned good eye, protection.

Kent4str is correct. A sledgehammer is the way to go. I used a measly 2 1/2 lb sledgehammer for most of my demo. A heavier one would have come in handy at times, but when you're swinging that sucker for 4+ hours a day... You guys have fun!

Dat's da plan, Stan! :-) I fully expect Danny to have done all that by the time I get home from work. He chiseled away the short backsplash portion on the peninsula yesterday; I had relaid and regrouted those tiles 6 years ago, because they were all falling off!

This appears to be how we entertain ourselves nowadays. Hope your efforts are working out on your own remodel!
