billeyler: (dancing bear)

Slogged through the day, still bone-weary, but getting more or less caught up in this 'chasing-fireflies-through-the-jungle' method of year-end closing we have at UNM.

Last night was a good night for the c/w lessons. It was '4-count swing' and 'c/w swing' night, and nearly everyone participated in that learning experience. It's always great that we have new folks coming in every week...much more fun to teach. So many of the folks that have been dancing 6-11 months are still coming though, that it's a great social outlet. Gary Dougan did a very fast walk-through with me in West Coast swing while we were at convention. I'm going to finds some local lessons in that...I danced it only briefly about 12 years ago, but I figure it's another good form to intro..it's not danced at all on Saturday nights, except by the occasional out-of-towner that stumbles into the Ranch.

Line dances for last night were the oldie-but-goodie "Circle Jerk" and new-to-the-dancers "Hanky Spanky" which I finally nailed down about an hour before lessons. Got to do a quick square to publicize the Wilde Bunch summer session officially starting next Monday.

No rain yesterday or last night, but I did manage to sleep in until 7:30 this morning and was of course about 30 minutes "late" to work. Ah, well.

And the sun is starting to peek through the clouds today...we'd love more rain, since we're just barely up to 50% of our Y-T-D of 3.5 inches.
