Airfare...ack

Sitting here trying to find reasonable cost to get to Boston in September. Ugh. This is NOT pretty.

And now to look at Seattle for October. Southwest flies there, so I'm comfortable with all that, and with luck we can get a direct flight. Haven't been to Seattle since a near disasterous trip there in June 2001, the first time Danny and I spent quality time together.

Montreal is next Tuesday for a mostly all day trip there on American Airlines...we get in about 6pm. Can't remember last time I flew American. Looking forward to seeing the 65 brave dancers that registered for the OutGames, as well as visiting with Anne U and meeting Don Moger.

I need a personal secretary. Taking applications!

I'll be your personal secretary if you'll be my houseboy. :)

The days of low airfares are over, unless there's a precipitous decline in jet fuel prices...

Are Southwest's fares into Manchester, NH or Providence, RI (their surrogates for Boston) really bad, too, Bill? I have no idea about the costs of surface transportation from either city into Boston, but if you can tolerate a long day of many short-hop flights, Southwest might be another alternative that could be cost-effective. I've done quite a few cross-country flights that way myself.

I did fly in to Providence when I visited young Eric in Boston in 2000, and it was a pretty smooth trip, witha bus ride and a subway ride involved....

But all the Friday jaunts on Southwest to either of those spots to connect would have gotten me there after the dancing starts. Plus they rates aren't good. :(

do you have southwest's DING! installed?

[identity profile] billeyler.livejournal.com 2006-07-31 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I do. And unless I want to go to Amarillo or Salt Lake City, there haven't been any specials from here lately. Sigh.

Time to go check Orbitz.com again.

Damn them!

I got lucky. I reinstalled DING! 2 weeks ago, hoping there would be a special from Oakland to Burbank, and lo and behold, on the 4th day I got DING!ed for 44 bucks one way (I had an Amtrak return ticket).

good luck.

Ding ding ding! Hope it's a good trip! I mean Burbank is NOT Anaheim! ;-)

JetBlue

We found Southwest and Orbitz to have higher prices than JetBlue, when we flew to Anaheim. But it was also true that the sweet spot for low prices seemed to be exactly 8 weeks before flying.
