Several shots of the tulips that have opened so far. The red and yellow tulips have been in the ground for about 15 years. Many were eaten by Sadie the Schnauzer when I stupidly fertilized with bone meal. I never seem to be able to grow big clumps of colorful tulips.

The orange wallflower decided it's time to start blooming. The daylilies behind it continue to expand their territory.

I'm amazed this old apple tree continues to bloom. I don't water it or pay any attention to it at all. It's normally in summer shade by a big locust tree.

More new honeysuckle to try to cover this really ugly fence. Quite a problem area. Most of the other honeysuckle has come back with a lot of green, but there is still a substantial dieback from those hard freezes we had. The indian plume in the foreground continues to spread; that one is a volunteer.

The desert willow I planted last fall I thought was a goner, but it actually has a lot of barely-able-to-see green shoots popping out of the small branches. Crossing fingers for this one. It's also in that problem area.

You're at least a month ahead of us, if not two.

Santa Fe still had freezes at night, but we haven't had a freeze in well over a month. It starts feeling Spring-like in early March here, but nothing really starts growing until early April. Growth here is limited because of the severe drought (even for a desert) we're in the midst of.

I hear you have lots of snow still to go play in! :-)

Great tulips! I had three tulips in our front yard this year, but I accidentally stepped on one when it first emerged from the ground, so that one never bloomed. The other two bloomed, but a neighbor promptly dug up one of them and stole it during the night last week, and then a little kid pulled the petals off the remaining one. So no more tulips for me.

Yikes! That's just rude! What a neighborhood you must live in!

Our front "yard" is xeriscaped, but the back is a mix of terraced planting areas, a small lawn, and a great expanse of river rock with deteriorated plastic under it. It's weed heaven.
