A question

Now that 2/3 of the people I know who actually post on their blog have moved over to Dreamwidth, do I also see responses that people make to cross-posted Dreamwidth -> LJ blogs? I don't know it's the whole shake-up recently because of the DDOS issue that I see so many postings now that have zero comments; normally SOMEONE comments on some of these individuals.

I think I'm just a bit confused on the uberworld concept of posting the same thing on two different blog sites. I know that if someone comments on a Facebook crossposting while on Facebook, I won't see it here on LJ.

comments made, on LJ to a post that was cross posted to LJ from DW...are not sent back to DW. DW right now is just a backup tool and a tool to crosspost to LJ. !When people say "I am "moving to DW". I haven't a clue what they are talking about...especially if their commenting friends still read and comment on the LJ version of the post. I am on DW..and right now it is strictly for backups and cross posting...until 250 of my friends move over and ONLY post there ( right now about ten have moved over...but still cross post to LJ).

But if you are on Dreamwidth, saw my open comment and replied, then I'm seeing this on LJ. I don't think we're on each other's list.

I saw this post and commented on LJ. If you originated this post on DW (and ported it over to LJ) ...this comment will not flow back to DW...

As far as I can tell, comments that people make to DW posts are noted with a number, as you mentioned, when the post is cross-posted to LJ, but to see the DW comments one has to click on the DW link. It's my impression that some LJ-only users no longer bother to comment on a post if the author of the post has requested that comments go to DW only. The whatsit ID thing doesn't always seem to work, and if people won't take anonymous posts in DW, I've found it's too much bother to comment. I also read a couple of DW/LJ people who request that comments go to DW only, but the LJ only readers ignore that, and post only on LJ. Some posters accept comments in both places.

My understanding is that I should comment here to any post cross posted here. I constantly reply to these cross posts here. I don't dreamwidth has the facility to do so.
