Listening intently to the 700 Club News to see when Pat Robertson will proclaim Hurricane Katrina and its destruction to be caused by either Southern Decadence, Mardi Gras, or the communists. All ears!
Interestingly, my Mom is in the mountains outside Clarkburg WV for a month, and they'll get MUCH more effect from the hurricane in a couple days than Shreveport/Bossier will. Bossier is in the far NW corner of Louisiana, and it's only when a hurricane hits the coast west of Houston that they get any effect at all, and that's usually pretty diffused by the time it hits there.
We're heading to our trailer in WV on Friday... I just hope that Katrina has either largely dissipated or moved west before then. I kinda like rain on the roof as we go to sleep but I'd rather not drive through the goat paths which pass for roads in rural WV during heavy rain with a risk of flash floods.
If we run into your mom, we'll stop to say hi. :-)
The parts I've seen and remember about West Virginia are that it's really beautiful, cool, mountainous, and sagging in population...especially in the old mining town where my mother is from.
I hope to get up there again sometime, but no clues when THAT will be!
