billeyler: (sad jake brokeback)
[personal profile] billeyler

I can't post much now, but at 2:30am Monday morning, we had an *EXTREMELY SERIOUS* situation with Danny and a fall that required Hyatt security, 7 EMT and paramedics and an ambulance ride to St Josephs Hospital in Denver.

We finally left the ER at 5:15, only to blearily have to wait for a cab to the hotel until nearly 7:00am.  It wasn't pretty, and I was so tired that I couldn't react appropriately.  The hotel security had kindly given us a voucher for the taxi, but it turns out Yellow Cab drivers hate the vouchers and tend to ignore pickup requests if they know a voucher is the payment.

But we're home.  Long long drive from Denver to Albuquerque after 2 hours of sleep that night.  I can't even tell you.

Any movement is limited and extremely painful, even with pills.

We'll be going to the doctor on Tuesday morning.  I thought I had lost him Monday morning when I found him unconscious on the hotel room floor...I woke up when I heard him go down.  Right now, it looks like he's rebroken some upper chest ribs he had broken about 20 years ago; the ER doc couldn't tell from X-Rays.  It's also unclear why he passed out.  It may have been a reaction to dinner hours before, since he had just been to the bathroom.

I hope you both can get some rest and that Danny heals quickly. What happened?

He had stomach problems about an hour after we went to bed and went to the bathroom in the hotel (I was asleep). I woke to a LOUD thump and found him unconscious and not breathing on the floor outside the bathroom. I jumped up and found him and was able to wake him up.

The fall broke some ribs and contused his head. We thought he had a heart attack.

Sorry, I'm so tired, I'm still befuddled.

OMG, that's awful -- rest up yourself and I wish you both speedy recoveries. All that stone and metal can be dangerous.

Thanks...hope YOUR trip back was okay. I have a walkie-talkie hookup right now in case he wakes and needs something.

I'm taking off work tomorrow. And of course HE is too!

I'll tell you about all this sometime.

OMG! Please tell Danny I'm sending him [gentle!] hugs...

Was this an allergic reaction to something he ate?

We have to find out why he passed out, but when he fell he seems to have re-broken some upper ribs he fractured about 20 years ago in his chest. The doc in Denver couldn't tell from the XRays there.

You sure know how to finish a convention weekend, eh?

I'm glad that Danny's alive, albeit in pain, from this episode. I'll be the one in the back of the line behind everyone else with gentle hugs for Danny. You, of course, get maximum strength.

hope you're feeling better yourself. I was just talking to Ett and she says she's got a terrible sinus infection and flu-like cold she developed during calling school.

My friend, Reed Waller, from DC also went home with flu. Seems the change in climate took a toll on many. Fortunately, my cold seemed to break on Friday and the few residual symptoms are slowly clearing.
