Consumerism R Us
Feb. 4th, 2006 07:38 pmToday was the day we set aside to buy, buy, buy!
- Headed to Homo Depot, then on to Lowe's, and committed ourselves to two garage doors, one opener, and the installation thereof. $$$. Someone will be over in a few days to be sure the 'garage' is door-ready. (It had better be. We paid a contractor enough to convert the carport to a garage-ready area last year)
- Headed over to American Furniture Warehouse for area rug shopping, and agreed on a nice 5 x 8 for the downstairs media area.
- Headed over to Century 14 to see "Transamerica." Sort of impressed, but it didn't leave me wanting more, although the kid-headed-for-a-bad-ending was muy handsome. We're going to try to see all 5 Oscar noms for best picture by March 5...shouldn't be too big of a sacrifice!
- Headed home and laid out the area rug only to realize it is MUCH too small, so off we head back to American Home Warehouse and get the 8 x 11 version of the same area rug, at twice the cost. Then back to Homo Depot for a carpet pad with a more reasonable cost. We kept the road on I-25 warm today.
- Headed over to Walmart (gasp!) to purchase an inexpensive TV table. Sauder has some nice ones, actually, and home we headed.
- Danny put together the TV table in about an hour, while I unpacked his DVD Home Theatre System components he got a few weeks ago.
- Danny's downstairs noodling with the system now, in hog heaven with technological wonders of the world. I'm digesting the quick pasta meal I made, so he could get down there and play again.
- We're now about $3,000 poorer. I guess that makes us successful consumers.
Rest time. Maybe dancing at the Ranch tonight!
