Last week before we left for Anaheim, there were several significant rainfalls, but they all came from the north. NOW, the rains are coming from the south...so we are FINALLY officially in the SW Monsoon season!

Two good solid rains during the night woke us both, and the pleasure of the sound of the patter on the roof and the thunder almost made us oversleep this morning. The weeds are coming up in full force now...what would I do with my summer other than pull weeds?

Yesterday evening, my boyhood friend Dale and his wife made it into town on their way from Shreveport to the Grand Canyon. The occasion was their 30th wedding anniversary; I was there in 1976 when they met for the first time when we both lived on the South Rim of Grand Canyon. Although it was a bit dodgy them getting to the house, what with the severe thunderstorm right over the mountain pass into town, then getting caught up in a traffic snarl from an accident at the Big I (intersection of I-25 and I-40), they made it about 7:30.

Dale is in a wheelchair, but does most everything walking people do...he's had health issues from the shooting in 1994, but his zest for life is there. We spent a pleasant hour in the back yard yakking, then went to his hotel nearby for a quick change then dinner at Applebees to reminisce of our 30 (and more) years of old times. Danny persevered through it all, nicely! It was actually a really nice visit, and we had a conversation rather than being extolled at. :-)

Bed beckoned by 10:30 though, and now a new workday with more year end closing at the university is pulling me.

Oh, and we just found out the water heater is leaking. Gawd. Looks like we're going to get that new-fangled instant heating system sooner rather than later.

(sung very quickly)

Happy Happy Birthday, baby...

(end sing)

I think you're still a year away from the half-century mark, yah?

Happiness to you, [livejournal.com profile] bearfuz!

How ironic there are so many Bill and Jim couples in the gay square dance world. I know several, and I was part of that name-coupling twice upon a time!

Bill Tyler came up at convention and said people have asked them when they are moving to Albuquerque. He had no idea where anyone would have thought that, since they had mentioned it to no one in the bay area.

Apparently, just because I blogged a while back that they were coming out here in August to look at some areas for potentially buying an investment property, that started the rumor! In any case, they opted out of ABQ (too cold in the winter) and ended up buying a place in Palm Springs, where the price bubble has shimmied downward a bit.

Bill Tyler isn't an LJ guy, but I wished him happy birthday on July 5th anyway.
