Success, yet feeling miserable
Dec. 23rd, 2006 10:14 amToday should be a day where Danny and I can be productive or at least head out and do something fun for us.
I'm sitting here with clogged sinuses, sneezy, drippy, and just all around yukky. Blah. It took almost two hours after waking (early) at 6:15 to get to a point where I'm not sneezing. Blah....wait, I have to reach for another tissue.
Last night's Wilde Bunch fete ended up being a really nice affair, with 21 of us all together. Our work paid off...the potluck went smoothly, although as always way too much food was brought. I must say, the pumpkin pie I made was exceptionally tasty!
Jack Denvir did his usual fantastic job emceeing the White Elephant gift part; this year we added an unofficial throne where everyone had to sit to unwrap their gifts (if they hadn't chosen to steal someone elses). Danny ended up with a wonderful bear that talks and has a visible heart beat; I stole a "Drama Queen" plaque, and Kris J has a great Santa style hat that has "Bah, Humbug" embroidered in it. I think there was a bit too much of the tasteful gifts brought this year, but there was a lot of laughter and fun.
We ended the night with about an hour of square dance, line dance and 2 step and waltz downstairs...also very nice. Folks chatted and connected and just generally were all great. I don't think I've ever had line dances down there before...it worked well, since I have moved most of our furniture out of the way, but still had plenty of seating. The last guest left about 10:05, and everyone was smiling and happy.
There was a lot of cleanup, but we were finished by 10:45. Relaxing on the upstairs sofa, just listening to music, we finally dozed off enough that we made a retreat to bed, with visions of sugar plums stuck in our heads.
Danny and I snapped a bunch of pics, so maybe we'll get around to posting a few. Time to go lay down and be lazy!
