Jul. 21st, 2007 12:53 pmThis morning after picking up my reserved copy HP7 at UNM Bookstore (no line at 10:15am, 15 minutes after the store opened), it was such a pretty morning that I took a little drive around the neighborhood.
Every street seems to have one, if not two, houses for sale, some of them next door to each other. What a buyer's market this must be!
I did come across one home that had "swimming pool" emblazoned on the yardsign at 452 Graceland SE. Nice curb appeal (although it does have a lawn), brick house, 2 car attached garage that wasn't overkill from the street. When I got home, I checked it out online. 2420 sq ft, $387K, but was disappointed with the pictures of the inside. It doesn't look like it has been remodeled since it was built somewhere around 1958. And not a peep on the realtor's website that it had a pool, even though it was their first and most expensive listing on their site! I did look at it on google, and saw that it did indeed have a small pool in a very small backyard. Just about 1.5 miles east of where we are now, but certainly nothing to get me that excited...we'll want something we WON'T have to upgrade and modernize!
Looking over other listings, I see that you can still get a decent sized new house on the West side of town for about $100 to $120 sq ft. Must be the buyer's market thing...
Eventually, we'll finish what we want to do here for upgrades and put it on the market, but certainly not right now. Who would want a six bedroom oversized house!
