Where we are

Danny's about 1/3 through HP7 right now and vows to hit page 500 before the night is over. He's refused to watch the news or read any internet in case someone has spoilers on there. He detests that. He'll wake and finish the book in the morning. Or sometime. Somewhat unfortunately, I caught a blip yesterday at some site that gave away some final plot twists. Not a biggie...I still like knowing the how and why. The who is almost irrelevant.

Me, I'm still plowing through "Wicked"...and about 2/5 through it. It's not an easy read.

I got a call from my fellow chorus bass, Brian (he's one of the founders of NMGMC in 1981) and asked please please please if I would come to the Sunday 3 to 5 chorus 'rehearsal' to help select one of the two finalists for the director position. Ah, well...guess I will. They'll probably talk me into singing the Fall term, since I don't have any out of town square dance events.

airporter picked up our copy today and is reading now. He's a wicked-fast reader and will likely have the thing done in another day or two (that long only because he has to go to work).

I'm like you - I don't mind the spoilers so much. He'll never understand that and invariably won't answer my questions, except tonight when I must have looked particularly frustrated. It's not like I'll get to the book any time soon, as I'm still reading *gasp* "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". I've never been able to get through the first chapter before as it seemed so mundane, but a friend "lent" me a 4-CD dramatized version and that helped me get through that first chapter. But I'm a slow reader... *sigh*

Hey Bill...remember me? I sing with the NYCGMC and we also just got a new director...starts this month. After having only interim directors for 2 years, will be nice to get back to some consistency. Did NMGMC select someone yet?

Yes, a young guy named Matthew Moore was selected. Are you the one that responded to me one time about Tim and Larry getting married on their cruise?

Yep...that's me. Friend of Tim and Larry and old ACLOA person. Best wishes for the chorus. We meet our new director next week.

I'm sure your new director is pretty significantly paid, compared to our new director, whose performance is tied to how many new people he can bring into the chorus. Considering there are maybe 14 singers coming up in the Fall, he's got his job cut out for him.

Tim and Larry were both at square dancing tonight...I was shocked!
