Stuck in the mud
Feb. 4th, 2008 11:59 am All processes requiring password log-in have come to a screeching halt here at UNM, so I'm just fiddling around with busy work. No email, no accounting functions online...the interesting part of the latter is that Payroll time entry is supposed to be complete and approved no later than 5pm. Tick, tick, tick. Lots of paranoia in the ranks right now, since it's about 90 minutes since we could work properly.
The GYPSY show ended up being more profitable for us than I had forecast or budgeted, in spite of less ticket sales. Expenses were a LOT less. Whew! Next Broadway show isn't until Annie is here April 4-6, but we have plenty of our own 'bought' shows to deal with between now and then, it being the thick of the season.
After Friday night's near-panic of not being able to use my laptop at the theatre (the IT illuminati had accidentally set me up with static IP rather than "find your own damn IP when you boot up" and that could only be changed through sysadmin), most of the weekend went smoothly.
This morning is a bit odd weather-wise, we have lots of sunny breaks amidst infrequent snow/rain showers. Both of those are happening at the same time, so it's on the surreal side outside. Seeing snow flurries this morning when I woke up with a background of sunshine was interesting.
Debating on dancing tonight, but it might be nice since one of the C1-dancers-from-Hell just broke his ankle and his also-a-dancer-from Hell partner had toe surgery and is out for a weeks. It would uncharitable of me to say my real thoughts, of course.
50th Anniversary of ASDC is this weekend, with Marshall Flippo calling. I'll be going to at least two of the dances, and will be calling a tip or two during an afternoon session. 50 years...that's a pretty big deal! Marshall was only 30 years old when he helped the Albuquerque Square Dance Community form the 501(c)(7) social organization that it still is today. He lived in Amarillo at the time, which is just a little over 4 hours east of here...long-time dancers tell me how they used to love his full head of curly brown hair. Boy, was THAT a long time ago!
Ah...the systems just came back up. Back to the grind!
