billeyler: (Bill and Danny)
From last weekend, Danny in his frenzy of sewing is working on repairing his aged, silk houserobe. He also did up the bedroom drapes, turning four panels into two. We loved the silky texture and shimmery, rich red look of those drapes when we bought them two years ago.

Yesterday, we made arrangements to visit with Jim Bailey and his partner Joseph, mostly to meet their recently adopted Schnoodle, coincidentally named "Bailey." A very sweet-tempered dog...not hyperactive, not intrusive, not barky.

Jim's lived in Santa Fe since 1999; he's been commuting to Los Alamos for work all that time (3 days a week) and plans to retire when he hits 60 on his birthday in September. It was a nice visit, with a walk with the dog up a rather moist, chilly arroyo near their condo near old Santa Fe. Danny hadn't really got to chat much with Joseph, who is a professional musician as well as an intake counsellor for drug rehab (what a mix!)

I returned to Jim the lucite top to his turntable that he had had left in the original box stuffed in our "attic" when we moved into this house in '92, as well as a ceramic soap dish his brother had given us as a housewarming gift.

What struck me about the visit is that we've now been apart almost as long as we were together, about 14 1/2 years (Jan 1979 - Oct 1993). Time does move on, and all the memories of a bad and often angry breakup have faded into the peace of nothingness.

Yesterday, I was feeling bad all day. Not quite sick, but like I still couldn't quite get over this five-week long drudge after the flu and my body was rebelling against me. Fatigue was the word of the day.   A 1pm nap helped a little bit, but my butt was draggin'.

In spite of that, we had to make the effort to get it together for the trip to Santa Fe. I had to be up for my hour of teaching c/w lessons at Rainbow Vision, then being up for working with Danny as co-DJ for 3 hours after that.

It was a LONG day! )

I'm SO glad we're only doing this once a month...all that 'up-ness' makes one bone-crushingly weary after awhile. I may even decide that we'll just do it through April, unless we're given the boot before then.

The first of the tulip leaves popping up through the mulch showed up this weekend.

This makes me happy!

Can't wait until the hundred or so I planted last Fall start their journey upwards!
