Thursday was a lighter than usual night at Sidewinder's, but as I told Danny, there's no commitment for people to come to do c/w dancing, since it's not a club or anything other than free lessons at a bar. I DO wish we had more new dancers coming in the door, though. It does amaze me that there is a core group that DOES come every week over and over. The old core group comes either later in the evening or at 9 for the 2 hours of DJed dancing.
Last night, since there were no newbies, I went into novice level lessons immediately. We worked through some night club 2 step basics and moves, then c/w 2 step 'lace across' and 'around the world' as the featured sequences. The line dances were "Down and Dirty," "Ghost Train," "Jambalaya," and "Scotia Samba." All were generally well-received, since for most of the dancers, they weren't familiar with those yet.
Danny and I haven't taken any time to work together on any of the couples dances, so it's a bit haphazard teaching from just watching YouTube vids.
And so another night goes.
Now to finish prep for a weekend of "I Love a Piano" here at the theatre.
