Update

Not really worth putting new pictures up, since the bulk of what has gone on this week has been having the drywall taped, mudded, 2 slick coats (4 days). Over the course of those days, we had various fans blowing and heaters on to keep the humidity down. Amazingly, the dust is not nearly as bad as we thought it was going to be.

Today, the actual texture coat is going on; there are at least three different types of coats being done, depending on what room it is. There was one set of non-English speaking guys that put up the drywall in about 6 hours last Friday. Joe has been working diligently by himself for 4 days to do the taping/mudding. It's a crew of two different guys today doing the texturing. I had no idea that the jobs were all so specialized! I'm pleased with the work they did.

Our sticking point right now is getting quotes for the tile work in the two bathrooms. We've decided we're going to do the two floors in the bathrooms ourselves as well as the backsplash in the kitchen. But in spite of that and us having to buy the tile ourselves (at contractor prices, we hope), the first quote was still $2,400 for labor. WTF? We've got two other quotes in process for this.

Danny and I plan on priming and painting some of the critical rooms this weekend, just to get that out of the way. It's merciful that we most of the living room paintwork doesn't have to be redone, since we just did that last year. Joe the drywall taper patched several problem areas that weren't part of the original plan.

Theoretically (and all jobs are always theoretical), the oak flooring work will commence on Monday. We have to move the refrigerator and all the paraphernalia laying about the floors, but that shouldn't be too bad. I hope.

I think we also need to take out the stairwell carpet and two large pieces of stairwell trim this weekend, too. We're having new wood stairs installed (more $$$). Ouch.

Since we'll be gone five days over Thanksgiving, the kitchen cabinet install is scheduled for 12/8. The bathroom vanities arrive on 12/3. We have to get the granite work scheduled after that.

I noticed yesterday that the terrazzo tiles in the foyer need serious cleaning AND resealing. They've take quite a beating over the years.

I don't know how long the contracted bathroom tile work will take. It's not a lot of square footage, so I was thinking a tile guy could do both baths in no longer than 16 hours. I don't think any tile work is worth $150 an hour, which includes one largish shower pan install, but no tiles included. Maybe I'm off in my calculations.
