Is it just me?
Feb. 4th, 2010 12:57 pmThis mass of negative publicity about the Toyota "situation" has me astounded and wondering. Is this a ploy initiated by US auto makers to discredit the company so that 'we' can start to improve market share after this massive bailout by the government?
Don't get me wrong. I agree there should be recalls for serious issues. But this? This goes way over the top. It's almost "Michael-Jacksonish" in the coverage by the media.
The US car companies have been failures is so many ways over the decades. Recalls are rampant in every car company for many different reasons, some of them serious, some of them not.
A couple of days ago, I saw on the news that yet another driver had mistaken the accelerator for the brake when pulling into a parking lot and drove into an office building, narrowly missing an employee sitting at a desk. This happened also some years back to a friend of ours, and he's still somewhat traumatized by the event.
Immediately after that was yet another frantic media TV story about Toyota's own issues with a sticky gas pedal.
I just don't know anymore. Gawd.
Can we recall people?
