Anticipating beauty
Mar. 2nd, 2011 07:17 amI've always been fascinated with the amaryllis and its ability to spring from a lumpy ball-bulb into a fully flowering beauty in a month or so.
I had an amaryllis that lasted about four years, the last year shooting forth with four large stems and flowers. It finally bit the dust last year.
This one, I bought in a post-Christmas sale for $2.50. It took a while for it get going. I think the first bit of green shoot started about a month ago. It'll be blooming in a few days.

It's not that I have a green thumb. It's only when I water appropriately that my houseplants seem to thrive.
