Dinner last night with Lawrence was a lot of fun...way too much food for the main course, but we persevered after two bottles of Merlot between the three of us and rampaged through five games of "Sequence." None of which I won, which is a feat in itself...there are some games that I usually win at, but the card games are not my forte.

Lawrence brought his two wonderful toy poodles over at our request. We've dog-sat with them for extended periods in the past, but haven't seen much of them since the Lawrence-Scott duo came into fruition. The sad part is that his blond 12 year old, Buddy, is aging very quickly in the way my Sophie did, and it's was a jolt to see him. Buddy was always a live wire, and lovingly bouncy, but last night he was definitely...old. He didn't feel good, and just figited in Lawrences arm most of the time. Lawrence is going to be bereft when he's gone. Chico is still lively at 11, at least. I'm going to mourn with him when they go.

A gorgeous day for a post-dawn walk this morning. Danny's still not up to walks with his sciatica, poor guy.

This neighborhood is so Beaver Cleaver when you get over into the Ridgecrest area that you have no feel at all for being in a desert. Park-like lawns, well-kept midcentury homes, a peek-a-boo view of the mountains through the acres of deciduous trees. The rains yesterday left the morning fragrant with steamy dew when the sun set upon it. I have to say that Albuquerque must have the worst sidewalks in the country; they're a joke. It's much easier to walk on the street than navigate the up and downs and slants of the ill-thought raised cement footpaths here. Doing that though, you take your life in your hands from the aged drivers.

Was fun to wedge in an hour of chorus sectional rehearsals today in between the two Bill Cosby shows. We breezed through the 1st half of our chorus program, with few stumbles, but of course we're all still on-book, so it's kind of like cheating. My first few years of chorus, EVERYTHING was memorized with the help of rehearsal tapes, but those days are gone. We only memorize pieces for special occasions as part of our rep. Wonder what the guys worked on in the 2nd hour, after I left.

Tomorrow is the 'official' first night of class 61 for the Wilde Bunch. I'm thinking we will have a class of some sort, although we've only had 6 new faces at the 2 open houses. We have 4 that returned from class 60, of the 8 that went through crossover, and of those 8, the 4 that didn't return are the 3 straight ones and the 1 odd duck that I told point blank that she could start over, but shouldn't take the continuation. Again, it'll be the usual challenge to work in 5 dance programs, but I think we'll get through it. I am a bit afraid of what the board will look like next year, but then again, I've been with it 22 years, and they come and go with the wind, and don't include the callers into any decision-making (note: I'm sure there are never any decisions made).
