Update on Marshall Flippo from Bob Brundage:
"I picked Marshall up at the VA this morning around noon and he is at a motel near the airport. He could not get a flight toTucson today as they were both full but he is ticketed for Wednesday morning. He has shuttle service in the morning as I have an appointment for a checkup at the same VA tomorrow. We enjoyed a great dinner together this evening at Black Angus and gossiped about many mutual friends, Hall of Famer's and national callers - rehashed so many stories from the good old days. I was able to retreive his cell phone which he left at the airport so he was soon back in touch with all his buddies around the country - amazing how fast the word spread.
When Marshall arrived here on Friday he was completely run down and grossly dehydratesd. His kidneys were almost ready to shut down completely but his first IV got him doing better quickly. At first they thought it might be a gall bladder problem but then switched to the kidneys. He went through several tests and has an appointment with a Dr. in Tucson on 2/28 for a followup. His spirits today are back to the old Flippo we all know and love. He will not call his dance tomorrow night but is considering the one Thursday night. He says he's ready to go back to work.
Marshall was in Albq. to call for the 50th anniversary of the Albuquerque Square Dance Center. 25 squares showed up and everyone had a great time in spite of his absence. There were a dozen or more callers signed up for the weekend and they all took turns calling in his place. Not one dancer asked for their money back because of his absence. In fact, many commented that it was great fun dancing to so many different callers from around the southwest. What a testimony to the respect everyone holds for Marshall, not only by the dancers but by the whole calling fraternity as well!
