A busy Sunday, and it's not even noon!
May. 4th, 2008 11:44 amDanny woke up at 7, but I didn't crawl out of bed this morning till 8:30. I'm thinking that it's just allergies that attacked me yesterday. I feel much better, thank you very much.
While we were lazing around, I started to read the newspaper with one eye on an old Joan Crawford flick I'd never seen..."Torch Song." I suggested to Danny that we book our flights to Cleveland. Since we were trying to finagle using one frequent flyer pass between the two of us for one of the flights, and Southwest has changed their cash-in of FF passes (do NOT go there,
allanh!), it took awhile to get there, but we're booked from Thurs July 3 to Tues July 8...leaving one day for us to visit my relatives or do some minor touring. Danny's never been to Ohio (indeed, he didn't exactly realize Cleveland WAS in Ohio).
Just as Danny hit the final keys to buy the tix, we got a call from
krisjensen asking if we could pick her up at the airport. Turtle-Bear wasn't available, but since we're definitely on the owing end of airport rides, off I went. I did remember to push "record" for the rest of 'Torch Song.' I did think about just going in my bathrobe and slippers, since I hadn't dressed yet...she wouldn't have minded! Kris had flown up to Denver for a one-day C1 extravaganza/workshop for the Rainbeaus.
Danny was working away on his chair tarp project when I got home:

and one of the finished products:

I tackled putting the ingredients together for another Tofu/Hamburger/Zucchini Lasagna (dairy-free, of course), and it's all ready to bake this evening for dinner...easily enough to feed both of us for at least 3 meals.
My little patch of lawn looks terrible, so I headed out to aerate it and maybe put some more fertilizer or the like to see if I can revive it, but the garden is looking great, so I snapped a pic of part of the (morning-shaded) terraced area:

Blooming: California poppies, Fragrant Cloud roses (lower), purple and yellow irises, Iceberg rose (upper), Valerian, mini-trumpet honeysuckle (next to yellow irises, but too low to see)
About to bloom: pink peonies
Not yet blooming: Texas Sage, Russian Sage, Russian Olive (tree), Rosemary, cucumber, pink Hollyhocks, coneflowers.
Finished blooming: Oregon Mountain Holly (upper)
Just sprouting: 4 o'clocks, sunflowers (all volunteers)
Just a fine day to be alive!
Now to finish the aerating and get ready for the 2pm show at the theatre!
There's a robin looking at me from the tree outside the study window reminding me it's time to get back to action. Danny's headed off to get more bias tape.
