I voted!

Instead of heading straight to work this morning at 7:55, I decided to drive by our polling place to see if there really were lines out the wazoo.

Not!

I parked in the nearly empty lot at the elementary school and stopped by where Danny was working.  All poll workers.  No voters.  Danny said there was a bit of a rush at 7 when they opened, but it died off quickly.

The next building over was where my polling place was.  Nearly the same situation, but there were about 5 voters filling out the paper ballots.  I was the only person coming up to the tables with 7 already bored-looking precinct workers.

By 8:05, I was done filling in all the blanks.  Ran my ballot through the counting machine; I was number 31 for the day in my precinct.

Stopped by the other building to say bye to Danny (who was looking quite fresh and efficient).  Out in the parking lot, I showed a brand new voter which building to go to, and I was done.  I was at work and at my desk by 8:20.

I don't know where these massive voter turnout situations are on election day, but they weren't at Bandelier Elementary School!

Lines are in OHio

Well I would say the lines are in Ohio. I have not heard from anyone who has said they got in to vote quickly here. Kenny's parents went this morning to vote and the line was out the door at the town hall where we vote. From past experience, that means there were about 50-60 people in line.

I guess the real problem is is taking people about 20 minutes to vote. There are alot of state issues and local issues to decide on.

We are going after work and counting on not having dinner until after 7 (we work until 5).

What a way to spend a birthday! Good luck!

Yes, I was thinking our precincts must be out of the norm. I was the only one voting that I saw that had a sample ballot filled out already to refer to, so I was in and out before any of the others already sitting were gone. There were a LOT of state and local issues, bonds and elections to deal with.
