Just an US kind of day

billeylerToday, we opted to treat ourselves to a movie, heading downtown at noon to catch a matinee showing of "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa." A fun little romp of a movie, with the obvious technical aspects of animation getting better every movie. I'm still amazed what the movie makers can get by with in adult humor in movies that are keyed to kids. I'm also amazed at the absolute mess families with young children can make in a theatre. In our row alone, there were spilled sodas, lots of popcorn, candy wrappers, and one leftover child's jacket when we left. Working in a performing arts theatre has made me very sensitive to any debris anyone leaves behind; this is just thoughtless and senseless. But we both enjoyed the movie, which was only slightly longer than the ads and trailers for other movies.
We strolled down Central Avenue a few blocks, deciding on Lindy's (established 1929) for lunch. I had an undersized biscuits and gravy breakfast with fried eggs; Danny had the Lindy's Burger.
Back at home the only reno things so far have been:
- A shower glass contractor came over at 10:30am to give a quote on a glass enclosure. Ouch! The one we got yesterday off-site was a couple hundred less.
- Moved Danny's large dresser out of the master bedroom so the drywall guys have more room to work.
- Shifted the range out of the way for the same reason.
- Mulled over the tile choices we've got for the master and guest bath.
- Discover the valve controls in the master shower are somewhat misaligned.
A bit ago, I pulled up all the shriveled, frost-nipped zucchini plants only to find that 2 large and 2 small fruit have hidden from me. They weren't frost-damaged, so I took them over to our neighbor for her personal use.
It's another gorgeous day out, somewhat warmer in the high 50s. Not a cloud in the sky though.
Danny's off to the grocery store for the weekly shop. Tomorrow, we're going to hit Mervyn's at Coronado Mall for any going-out-of-biz bargains we can find.
