...that Danny is coming with me on this trip to Vancouver. Here we sit at the ABQ airport, a much less crowded airport than I was anticipating. We're both tapping away on our respective laptops, enjoying the peace (and free wireless connection). I brought along a DVD a coworker loaned to me, "Everything is Illuminated."
Had my turkey dinner last night at Mannie's before we packed for the trip. I'm glad I did pack early, because I ended up in a nearly 90 minute talk with my old high school friend Dale. I hadn't heard from him in quite a while. A recent email to him bounced; turns out he changed his email address some time ago and didn't tell moi. He's having severe health issues caused by his paralysis from 1994. This time it's from a gluteal ulcer he had that had to be cut out down to the bone. He nearly died from that one, and the recovery time is going to be about 8 months, if he completely heals. He's still thankful that he's around and has his family.
I've downloaded
allanh's draft of the December GCA newsletter to proof sometime in the next five days. Should be plenty of leisure time to do that!
It's a drizzly sprinky rain out right now here in ABQ and in the low 40s. Probably snow in the mountains around here. This is the type of weather we're expecting in Seattle and Vancouver, not so much here!
Danny had adventures with the alarm system before we left, but that seems to be all cleared up now. The flooring guys should be able to do their stuff on Monday and Tuesday. The floor is completely laid upstairs now and the French doors have been corrected to accomodate the additional height. They still have to complete the stairwell, but that should happen Monday.
Looking forward to the visit this coming week!
Hope no one here has friends or relatives in Mumbai right now. That situation is escalating out of control.
Happy holiday to all!
