AFterthoughts

Our first concert of the three went very well, considering how under-rehearsed we were. The Santa Fe audience was enthusiastic and supportive, and we're re-gaining ground up there. There was only one number that I felt sadly deficient in...one of the John Cage like pieces called "Winter Light," that featured the mezzo-soprano artist.
The drive back at a solid one hour seems SO long after such a long day of work, traffic to get to the carpool, the drive up, the concert, then back again. Michael Coburn didn't even have enough energy to talk on the way back (we carpooled, his truck is broken). Poor Danny tried to wait up for me, but he conked out about 10:30.
This concert didn't have any fluff in it that we've got planned for the Friday night concert at Sandia Prep...there just wasn't enough room for any of it. But overall, we did fine and put some much needed cashola into the empty coffers.
It's midnight now, and I'll be fading off to sleep. Wonder if I can make it to work by 8.
