Called in unwell to work this morning...

Some sort of virus-y thing has attacked my tum, and it's not pretty, but hopefully shortlived. Last night about 11, I had a sneezing fit, too, which I haven't had in a long long time.

As a separate health issue, [livejournal.com profile] abqdan has diagnosed me with "allergic contact dermatitis" and I won't disagree with him. Since I had the flu in February, and after a round of Zithromax (sp?) antibiotic, I often get red welts and streaks that run randomly over my stomach, sides, chest, arms without rhyme or reason. They go away after a while, if I take Claratin. If someone runs a fingernail lightly on my forearms, I get a red welt that lasts an hour or two. Weird. I did see a dermatologist in April about it, but he more or less poo-poo'ed me. But he did accept my money.

Anyway, this isn't the optimal way to have a day off. :(

Go to the drugstore. Look for "Aveeno" brand oatmeal-based bath powder (comes in foil packets in a box). Draw a warm (not hot) tub using one of the packets. It will help soothe the dermatitis.

Ooh, you're dermographic! I knew someone who had been that way all his life. Hopefully yours is short-term. Your immune system is overactive, maybe because of your recent illness, and reacts when it shouldn't. Aside from taking this opportunity to sell advertising on your skin for any upcoming peeloffs, there's not much to be done about it.

Sorry about the tum unpleasantness. I had that a few months ago -- rarely have I understood the phrase "I just want to die." They pass, luckily.

Considering that Bill made great fun of my ongoing dermagraphic ("dermatographic"?) condition at Peel Off In Palm Springs a few years ago ... I find that specific aspect of his illness rather amusing.

Wow...did I? Gosh, I can't remember. I remember what a trooper you were for turning your CCBC room into the A & C center, which was well appreciated. My very late apologies if it was perceived of as 'making fun of'.

It was very gentle fun, and I wasn't offended ... but I am highly amused at yet another demonstration of my favorite line from the "Cathy" comic strip:

We become what we sneer at.

;)

Here's hoping we BOTH feel better soon!

Hugs!
