Slept a whole 8 hours last night, was heaven. The dog didn't even bark this morning, although it's there. Maybe the light rain last night did the trick for good sleepin'. Once it's a bit dried out, I'll do some of the yard work that's accumulating and thin out my jungle garden in the terraces. Energy level is way below normal, but I think I can plow thru...

We were going to file a complaint to the city tomorrow on the slum conditions of the house next door. Weeds and trash have been growing and accumulating since April there, and 'whoever' lives there (if anyone) just came and went. Surprise! The owner actually came by yesterday and weed-whacked and mowed! We don't think anyone is really living there now. Someone just comes over every few days and shovels some dog food into a bowl. The owner's daughter lived there for a while, but we never see her. Just a few random sightings when more furniture seems to be leaving the house.

Games night with Lawrence and Scott tonight! It's been forever since we've seen them. As a couple, they're even busier than we are, and since both of them get up about 4:30am, the night will wind down by 9pm. They'll be bringing over pics of their Tibet trip (Himalaya base camp) in June, maybe last year's Egypt trip. I like 'home movies,' but Danny gave the 'throat slitting' sign when they mention doing that. Wish we could have Lawrence's toy poodles over, but getting rid of our fence put a kibosh on that. I miss the energy (and sometimes frustration) of having his dogs around (and mine).

They are another of those 6 degree couples. Lawrence has been a good friend for about six years. I had succeeded getting him into the chorus in 1999-2000 for a while. He was perennially single and not keen on it. He's attractive, so I never got why his dating never worked out. He was pretty negative at times, but who knows. Early last year, he gave me a call and said he had met someone I know, Scott Walker, and what could I tell him about Scott before they actually committed for a date! Well, that knocked me over! Scott and his ex, Jeff, used to dance with us in the early 90s, and they were known as the Golden Couple. Hot, hunky, young, and (we thought) very monogamous. But they (as well as the rest of the Walker family) faded out of square dancing into other activities. Scott and Jeff had a nasty breakup a couple of years ago, after TWENTY years of marriage...I think they met in college! Their breakup was a lot like mine with Jim #1 back in '93. It's SO hard to be unique.

Now it's come full circle again, being in contact with Scott and socializing and all. After a year of dating, Lawrence sold his recently remodeled house in Taylor Ranch and moved in with Scott in the near North Valley, combining families...I'm really happy for him/them.

Local callers assn meeting at 12:30. Bob Brundage is going to show (via overhead projector, how hi-tech!) the results of CallerLab surveys on trend analysis for recruiting new dancers. I'll actually remember to GO to a meeting, since it slipped my mind often, unless I was doing a seminar. Maybe Kris and I will actually be at a meeting at the same time!
