Such a lovely day

After two days with near record rainfall here, Mother Nature has opted to be nice and settle down into a calmer Fall day. 89 on Tuesday, 82 on Weds, 59 (!!!!) on Thursday and mid 70s today. Balloon Fiesta crew, pilots, and owner are all breathing a sigh of relief that the rain and wind is gone, gone, gone.
What a "great" way to start the day, with a trip to my (gay) dentist for a cavity filling at 8am! We had a nice conversation about Schnauzers and heart hospitals...Alan's 2 schnauzers are still active, but aging, and my three have passed on to carrot crunching delights beyond. The whole filling thing is totally pain-free these days. This is my first cavity since I decided to take care of my teeth when I was 29. I know that five of our 17 singing members in the chorus use the same dentist!
Pleasant meetings at work, with a definite wind-down feel to the day. Not necessarily looking forward to Sunday's TWO square dance-related meetings (callers club and then square dance center board) then a chorus meeting in the later afternoon, but at least Saturday is commitment-free. Maybe either renting a chipper/shredder to decimate the 8 foot high mound of old ivy branches and leaves, or continue painting the underside of the deck. Or sleeping.
Thursday C/W lessons are still trundling along with the random one or so new people every week. More spectators seem to be appearing that don't want to learn the Tush Push...can't imagine why not! Attrition has brought the core group to 12-16 every week, but the manager seems to think that's just fine. It's more than the kareoke DJ has after we finish up, and I suspect he's paying Johnny MUCH bigger bucks than me, since he's doing it 9pm-2am M/Tu/Th. Gawd!
Wilde Bunch Class #61 has open houses on Oct 3 and 10. Notwithstanding that the WB board set the class dates 2 weeks ago, has no publicity plans, and is still committed to doing FIVE dance programs on Monday nights, we'll see what happens. I'm hoping we get at least a square of new dancers again. I'm trimming the program to 10 weeks, with a 12/19 crossover date, so we'll have made it through about 2/3 of the old Basic program. Wondering how I can incorporate www.squaredanceabc.org into the local gay program.
